The need for exercise at a time when Technology has replaced physical work has become necessary nowadays. It has been documented that quality of life is related to both nutrition and exercise, and it is also proven that people who exercise systematically improve their physical condition, reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases, reduce the risk of obesity, experience more euphoria, more productivity and more.
This programme is designed to meet the needs of society, which stem from the tendency of more and more people to exercise more and more frequently, to maintain their health.
The aim of the programme is to provide students with the knowledge and skills throughout the range of workouts, both as personal and fitness programmes. Furthermore, the overall aim of the programme is for graduates to convey the necessity of lifelong learning, thus contributing to improving the quality of life of citizens.

Practical Training
The Practical Training takes place during the fourth (4th) semester of study. Students are required, during the course of their studies, to do their Practical Training one-day per week in College-approved companies / organizations whose subject is relevant to the content of the Program.
Anatomy of Motion
The course provides students with the knowledge needed to build and operate the human organs and structures that make up the human body with a focus on the supportive and muscular system. Emphasis is placed on basic human anatomy and movement, and it analyzes the characteristics of bones, joints and muscles in relation to the function of different parts of the body through different movements and types of exercises.
Nutrition and Exercise
The aim of the course is to help students to understand the importance of nutrition to health and fitness. Also, students acquire basic knowledge about the nutritional needs of an athlete and of people who train and how these needs are differentiated based on their fitness and level of exercise.
Personal Fitness
The aim of the course is to provide students with an understanding of the basic principles of designing a resistance training program for healthy people, to incorporate the basic techniques of resistance training, as well as to adopt ways of motivating sport people to remain in the exercise and to achieve their goals.
Group Fitness Programs I.
The course aims to train students to design and implement group fitness programs and to influence athletes in creating positive attitudes towards systematic physical activity.
First aid
The purpose of the First Aid course is to allow students to be able to deal with an emergency in diverse settings. Through lectures, discussions, videos and practical applications in a variety of incidents and conditions, students access the theoretical and practical background that will enable them to respond promptly and effectively to an emergency. Students have the opportunity to practice in a variety of incidents and receive feedback on their methods of handling the situation.
Physiology of Exercise
The course aims to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical applications of exercise physiology. This course develops the functions of the human body during exercise, as well as the physiological adaptations of the body caused by the regular exercise in relation to both athletic performance and to health.
Exercise Psychology
The aim of the course is to teach students the main factors that affect the impact of physical exercise on mental and health mood, personality and behavior of practitioners of all ages and the use of techniques to improve performance.
Group Fitness Programs II
The course “Group Fitness Programs II” is a continuation of the first semester course. In this course students are given more specialized knowledge and skills regarding the principles of exercise.
Specialized Personal Fitness
The purpose of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to the design and implementation of specialized protocols for both healthy populations and low-risk populations.
Olympic Weightlifting
The main objective of the course is to integrate students in the Weightlifting field by giving them the opportunity to learn the necessary principles of proper training as well as the basic techniques of Olympic Weightlifting.
Exercise and Health
The course “Exercise and Health” aims to teach students the benefits of exercise in health. Students learn about the positive relationship between physical activity and psychological and physical health and that exercise is a key element in promoting positive values and attitudes towards a more active and healthy lifestyle.
Rehabilitation
The course aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge about major musculoskeletal conditions along with the most common musculoskeletal injuries. The course will focus on the underlying cause mechanisms, causes, symptoms and ways of dealing with these injuries or conditions.
Case study
The course provides students with the knowledge and skills in order to choose which type of program they should use, taking into account the ultimate goal of the trainee, the exercise history, health history and other relevant factors. The “Case Study” course was designed to promote discussion and increase students’ critical thinking. It is a useful practice for students who are asked to combine all the information they receive from the trainee, to use all the knowledge they have gained from previous semesters in order to conclude to the basic design of the most appropriate program and its proper implementation.
Sports Nutrition and Supplements
The aim of the course is to provide students with the theoretical knowledge of nutritional requirements in exercise, as well as the basic knowledge of nutritional supplements that practitioners can use to increase their performance and achieve their fitness goals.
Gym management
The course provides students with the knowledge and skills that will help them design, organize and operate a successful fitness center.
Functional Training
The course provides students with specific knowledge on functional training and its parameters. The theoretical knowledge and practical skills students acquire focus on improving the body posture, preventing injuries and developing athletic performance.
Increasing Fitness in Developmental Age
The course aims to provide students with the appropriate knowledge and skills for exercise at an early age, taking into account a child's developmental characteristics up to their adolescence. In addition, the students are taught the methods used to improve the fitness of these age groups in order to promote their health and fitness.
Practical Training
The purpose of the Practical training is the practical application of the knowledge gained during their studies. The Practical training took place in College-approved companies / organizations and is supervised by the course instructor.
ELECTIVE COURSES
Yoga
In this course students are taught the basic knowledge and workouts of the Yoga method so that they can teach it effectively to children and adults.
Pilates Method
The course aims to teach students the basic exercises and the theory about Pilates training method.
Massage
The purpose of the course is for students to be trained on massage techniques for athletes and trainees and to be able to integrate them in the rehabilitation program.
Foam Roller
The course teaches the students the basic knowledge and practical skills through the use of the Foam Roller, with emphasis on teaching and applying methods of developing mobility and flexibility.
Pilates Method (Reformer)
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic theoretical knowledge and skills regarding the Pilates training method (Reformer) using fitness equipment .

Short CV: Mr Charalambos Assos is a Lecturer at KES College since 2018. In 2003, he was awarded his degree “Master of Education in P.E.” from the University of Semmelweis. He is currently in the process of completing his Master’s Degree Special Inclusive Education from the European University of Cyprus. Mr Assos has a SHO 1st Dan in Karate. Since 2014, he works as a fitness coach and personal trainer at a gym. In 2017, he represented the National Team of Cyprus at the Bodybuilding contest abroad. He teaches courses of his specialty.

Short cv: Mr. Andreas Constantinou has been a Lecturer at KES College since 2019 specialized in Physical activity for people with special needs. He graduated from the T.E.F.A.A Trikala, University of Thessaly (Department of Athletics and Physical Education). During his degree, he completed his internship at the Wheelchair Basketball club “Asteras Trikalwn”, at the 1st Primary school of Trikala, at the Psychiatric Clinic “Ayia Anastasia” and several more. In 2013, he completed a Masters of Arts in special needs at the University of Nottingham and worked as a volunteer at the Bluecoat Academy Secondary School. His interest in sports began at the age of 9. He started with swimming, and then, 3 years later went on to continue as a 400m hurdle athlete for 10 years. His participation in body building and fitness resulted in him gaining the 2nd and 3rd position in his category (Men’s Physique up to 1.74cm) in 2014 and 2015 respectively. His involvement in Crossfit, became the catalyst for his interest in weightlifting, in which he has been involved for the past 4 years. He is currently part of the Cyprus National Team and has been able to reach 1st place in the general classification. Since 2013 he was working as a gymnastics trainer and as of 2018 he owns The Train Station Gym. He teaches subjects of his specialty.

Mr. Konstantinou has several awards in the field of sports, some of which are:
-Cyprus champion in the sport of physique in the Junior category 2013
-2nd place in the Mediterranean games in the sport of physique in the Junior category 2013
-Champion 2017 in the sport of Dynamic Triathlon in the "Bench Lift" category
-Champion 2017 in the sport of Dynamic Triathlon in the "Deep Sitting" category
-3rd place in STRONGMAN 2018 where he is among the strongest athletes on the island.
Mr. Konstantinou received a cultural award in 2010 by his Municipality "for his achievements in letters, arts and culture".
Mr. Constantinou is the president of the Cypriot Dynamic Triathlon Federation, a recognised Federation by THE Cyprus Sports Organisation. He is a Member of the Cyprus Nutrition Association and is the Managing Director of ADVANCED NUTRITION SCIENCE. He is one of the founding members of the ATHLETES INNOVATION GROUP, a group of scientists whose main goal is the development and evolution of sports and collaborates both with professional athletes and trainees who want to test their limits.

Mrs. Ioannou is a certified trainer from Stott Pilates in the field of Reformer jumpboard interval training and Athletic Conditioning. Short CV: Μs Ligkou Maria is a physical education and sport science graduate of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) which was awarded to her in 2017. She is a certified les Mills Cyprus instructor at bodypump, cx worx and Body Combat. Furthermore, she is a certified Studio one (Greece) personal and group trainer. Ms Ligkou is a holder of the Cyprus football association’s award as an Uefa C level coach. She has perennial experience in football infrastructure department at both Greece and Cyprus. Since 2018 she works as a personal trainer, coach and group fitness trainer at Oxygen Gym in Nicosia. At the same time from 2019 she works as a physical condition instructor and trainer at the women’s football team of Omonoia Nicosia. In addition, she has been panhellenic taekwondo champion in all age categories, member and representative of taekwondo union of North Greece at international competitions. Furthermore, Ms Ligkou has been a weightlifting athlete since 2015 and has accumulated many recognitions and medals both in Greece and Cyprus.
