Participation of students and teachers in the “Stem in Education” European Erasmus+ Program in Estonia

KES College participates in the European Erasmus+ Program “STEM in Education”, since 2019, and the project's objectives include the introduction of innovative approaches to teaching using interdisciplinary links that include topics of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, leading to the abbreviation Stem: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics.

The implementation of the stem approach thus contributes to the improvement of the quality of vocational education in the partner educational institutions, while at the same time it is very important to contribute to teachers, by involving Information and Communication Technology in the education and implementation of new methodological approaches to teaching. The ultimate goal is to improve learning outcomes by increasing students' motivation to study.

For the successful implementation of the project, four international workshops for teachers were programmed, focusing on shading jobs, exchanging information on the use of stem, teaching in groups, etc.

On 26-30 April 2022, the Program “STEM in Education” took place, which was dedicated to students from the six (6) Educational Institutions - Partners, coming from Czech Republic, Turkey, Estonia, Norway, Italy and Cyprus. The meeting for students and professors from all these countries took place in Valga, Estonia and KES College was represented by the students Marios Savva, from the Program of Study of Medical Representatives Management (Bachelor) and Konstantina Theofanous, Higher Diploma of Gardening and Landscaping. The students were accompanied by Ms Efrosyni Antoniou, Lecturer of the School of Environmental Studies and Dr Androulla Miliotou, Coordinator of the Programs of Study "Medical Representatives Management" (4 years/Bachelor) and “Pharmacy Assistants (Technicians)" (2 years/Diploma).

Students attended various seminars and workshops around STEM applications and pedagogical experiments. At the same time, an international competition was held between groups of different nationalities for the creation of videos on specific topics and the resolution of STEM tests.

The winner of the international competition was the team of the student of KES College, Marios Savva!

KES College was well represented by Marios and Konstantina, reflecting the level of knowledge, skills and ethics that students of KES College possess and for this they deserve many congratulations. They gained unique experiences, creating friendships from all over Europe and meeting new cultures.

At the same time, KES College participates in actions and European Programs of the utmost importance, in the context of continuous enrichment of the quality of education it offers and is actively involved in the development of new approaches and applications in teaching.

The main concern of KES College is to deliver to society people with multilevel knowledge, experiences, skills and perceptions, ready to conquer the labor market of our country and beyond.
