On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, KES College hosted two distinguished speakers from the pharmaceutical industry, Sales Directors Mr. Christoforos Christoforou from AstraZeneca/Alector Pharmaceuticals and Mr. Stelios Stelios from C.G. Papaloisou Ltd.
The event, titled “Highlighting the Role of Public Relations in the Pharmaceutical Market”, was part of the Study Programs “Medical Visitor Management” and “Pharmacy Assistants (Technicians)”. The speakers shared their experiences regarding Public Relations and the broader philosophy of pharmaceutical companies.
One of the main focuses of the event was a discussion about the role of the Medical Representative and the challenges they face daily in the modern pharmaceutical market. The speakers highlighted the importance of Public Relations in the pharmaceutical industry and engaged in an interesting discussion on this topic.
Furthermore, the discussion emphasized the significance of a Medical Representative’s ability to manage effectively the relationships between pharmaceutical companies and doctors, as this is crucial for the successful promotion of the company’s products in the market. The importance of continuous education and updating of the Medical Representative regarding the pharmaceutical products they represent was underscored, as it is essential to provide specialized and reliable information to doctors to enhance the company’s image and reputation in the market.
Later, students from the “Pharmacy Assistants (Technicians)” program discussed with the speakers the interaction of the profession with pharmaceutical companies, examining the importance of information about products, company services, and ordering processes as a means to increase sales in the pharmacy sector. In this context, the necessity of achieving a balanced and mutually beneficial collaboration was highlighted, where both pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies benefit from the exchange of information, sales collaboration, and mutual support.
The event provided a platform for a constructive exchange of views and ideas between students and experienced pharmaceutical executives. This interaction strengthened KES College’s connection with the dynamic pharmaceutical community in Cyprus. Additionally, participation in such events is a valuable experience for students as it broadens their exposure to the job market and provides essential knowledge for the professional field of pharmaceutical scientific information and Public Relations.
Finally, the event facilitated student networking and the establishment of close professional ties, preparing them for their future careers as Pharmacy Assistants, Medical Representatives, and senior pharmaceutical executives.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the speakers, guests, and all participants who contributed to the success of the event.
